Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing
Past
traumas consume our energy. They keep us trapped in habitual behavior
patterns and denying our natural birthright of living in a state
of positive energy. This journey of purification and self-discovery
leads to a deep connection with the source of essence.
Often
when something traumatic happens, it seems to get locked in the
nervous system along with the original picture, sounds, thoughts,
feelings and so on. Since the experience is locked there, it continues
to be triggered whenever a reminder
of a trigger comes up. It can be the basis (root) of much discomfort,
and sometimes negative emotions, such as fear and helplessness that
we cannot seem to control.
The eye
movements that we use in EMDR seem to unlock the nervous
system and allow your brain to process the experience. That
may be what is happening in REM while we sleep. The important thing
to remember is that it is YOUR brain that will be doing the
healing and YOU are the one in control.
